This area focuses on the prevention or slowing of disease progression by early testing and effective, timely interventions, with an emphasis on evidence-based and cost-effective care.

 

Prevention NowSeeking Expert Stakeholders

The Prevention QIO Support Center (QIOSC) is seeking expert stakeholders to:

  • Support health care system improvement.
  • Improve the QIOs’ effectiveness and efficiency in quality improvement activities.
  • Leverage industry standards and quality measures.
  • Create urgency for the need to improve prevention practices.

The Prevention QIOSC seeks to engage select organizations that:

  • Possess subject matter expertise in clinical preventive topics and promote the use of evidence-based care services to improve patient health and outcomes.
  • Support the use of electronic health records (EHR) systems to help improve immunization rates for influenza and pneumonia, as well as increase breast and colorectal cancer screening rates.
  • Work to raise beneficiaries' and health care providers’ awareness of the large impact of breast and colorectal cancer, influenza and pneumonia on the United States population.
  • Sponsor ongoing companion initiatives.

The Prevention QIOSC is asking organizations with similar missions to provide one or more of the following:

  • Endorsements for the QIO prevention project
  • Intervention tools for providers
  • Educational materials for beneficiaries
  • Subject matter expertise on conference calls, at conferences, etc.
  • Synergies with ongoing initiatives and conferences
  • Communication channels for prevention messages (articles in newsletters, emails to constituents, etc.)
  • Expertise related to EHR vendors
